I have invested my time at Purdue in giving back to the community. Volunteering efforts that I have been a part of are contributing my time to the Read>Lead>Achieve philanthropy effort as well as Miracle Mania.
Examples of some things I have participated in are the Day of Service in Indianapolis, where a group facilitates the donation of books to teachers working at underfunded schools. Another example is going to local schools to read to children with the purpose of promoting reading habits. Miracle Mania is a dance competition between Greek life organizations at Purdue.
The proceeds raised from Miracle Mania are donated to the local Children's Miracle Network Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. For this specific philanthropy I was responsible for coordinating a routine that involves other fellow members in the Greek community as well making sure that it was a team effort. Involvement in these activities has pushed me to become a team leader and further my organizational skills.
